At the Geneva International Motor Show, Audi introduced the concept car which became its fifth electric vehicle, the Audi Q4 e-Tron.
First tempting automotive enthusiasts in 2016, e-Tron was Audi’s real response to Volkswagen Group’s parent company to deliver a new line of vehicles to its entire line of cars by 2030. And smaller than an ordinary e-Tron, the Audi Q4 e-Tron is part of compact SUVs with even more reach.
Although there is nothing that can distinguish Q4 from e-Tron in addition to the size and technological enhancements in it, revealing this compact SUV is Audi’s smart move considering this segment is getting smaller and more crowded. Aside from Audi, Tesla also plans to show its own compact SUV, the Tesla Model Y, which will directly confront the Q4 e-Tron.
Getting a dual motor with 300 HP power, 82 kWh battery provides a distance of more than 400 kilometers, further than the e-Tron which made its début in September 2018. Besides that, what is interesting about this car? Check out the review of the Audi Q4 e-Tron
The exterior of the Audi Q4 e-Tron
Looking at this car from the front, no one can deny that these cars were issued by the company with the four-circle logo. In addition, all the outside shows the sporty and futuristic design of Audi. And of course, apart from the softer angular shape, the exterior of the Audi Q4 e-Tron is made more rounded.
The octagonal grille dominates the front fascia and the frame that surrounds it confirms a pair of thin LED headlights. In line with all the e-Tron GT electric vehicles introduced some time ago, wide grille with the front Audi logo adorns the front exterior of the Audi Q4 e-Tron. The muscular design is clearly visible from the indentations seen in the front grille, as well as on the air intakes of the vehicle’s sides. The smaller headlights emphasize the sturdy front view.
With a length of 4.5 meters, the Q4 e-Tron fits into the compact and tiny vehicle segment but has a fairly ergonomic interior. Viewed from the side, this car has a sporty appearance with 22-inch rims measuring futuristic style. In addition, the e-Tron logo adorns the exterior side of the Audi Q4 e-Tron at the bottom of the second-row side door.
Different than most vehicles, the unique appearance of this car is the rear lights that blend and split the rear exterior of the Audi Q4 e-Tron. When viewed from the rear, this car has a wide impression with a sleek cabin but a bulging rear bottom. In addition, at the bottom, right in the middle of the rear grille there is an e-Tron writing with a glowing luxury accent. The skid plate at the rear reinforces the sporty look of the back of this car.
Interior of the Audi Q4 e-Tron
All the futuristic luxury can be obtained if you look into the cabin of this car. The interior of the Audi Q4 e-Tron is filled with various captivating technologies, and the appearance of this car can be likened to a digital cockpit. Cabin space is said to be bigger than many compact cars on the market. Audi designers are also trying to improve the quality of space by using bright and warm colors at the top of the cabin with dark-colored carpet on the floor.
The inside of this car has a charming digital display, like what we can see in a vehicle in a science fiction movie. The 12.3-inch touch screen located above the center console is the center of the entire entertainment system. While the large-format head-up display on the dashboard of the Audi Q4 e-Tron displays augmented reality information, new features included in this car. Meanwhile, the center console is designed as a storage compartment, covering the charging points of your smartphone.
The driver’s grip also did not escape the futuristic modernization provided by Audi. Audi Q4 e-Tron steering has several buttons that can be used to control several functions. With a charming design, the rear of the steering wheel has a digital display that shows speed, charging level, and navigation to help you while driving. In addition, the front screen can also display important information, such as the direction arrow to turn, explained Audi.
At a glance, the Audi Q4 e-Tron seat is believed to give the comfort needed. New technology, such as seats that can heat your back, is one of the newest technologies incorporated into this car. Even though it is included in the compact car segment, the inside looks like it has enough headroom and legroom for driving comfort on the road.
Features of Audi Q4 e-Tron
As explained earlier, the Q4 e-Tron has a chiseled dashboard, accommodating the touch screen on a 12.3-inch infotainment screen that tilts towards the driver’s seat for better visibility. Previously, interior sketches revealed menus for navigation, telephone and vehicle settings as well as news, weather, and user profile functions. In addition, Audi also provides climate control settings and seat heaters which can be operated on a separate touch screen surface below.
Noteworthy is that this car has a fast-charging system that can charge up to 80% of power in just 30 minutes. Considering there is still a lot of time allotted to develop this car, we can expect Audi to develop the features provided to offer driving comfort and ease with all Audi’s futuristic technology.
Audi Q4 e-Tron engine
Two electric motors with 225 kW system power or equal to 300 horsepower in the Q4 e-Tron concept car. Like a typical Audi vehicle, the driving force of the vehicle gets a Quattro all-wheel drive. Thanks to extraordinary traction, this car accelerates from zero to 100 kph in just 6.3 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 180 kph. Of course not the highest speed of this machine because everything is electronically limited.
The Audi Q4 e-Tron operating system has a concept technology that controls a modular electrification platform (MEB) that will be integrated into a variety of electric vehicles produced by Volkswagen Group in the future, from compact class sedans to superior sized middle class.
Q4 e-Tron is not just a copy of the e-Tron SUV. The look of this car is tighter and more futuristic. Some of the newer technology and even further range help differentiate this car compared to its bigger sibling.
